start of a new era

Baby Roan was born on 9/22/2018 3:28pm.  I'm starting this new blog to document my experience as a mom.

I anticipate laughter and tear, happiness and disappointment, accomplishment and struggles, love and loss, growth and setbacks.....  In other words, the full spectrum of a brand new life.

before he was born

I found out I'm pregnant on my birthday 1/22/2018.  It was a mixed feeling of surprises and feeling lucky. The pregnancy was uneventful. The hardest part was the morning sickness during the first trimester. I discovered morning sickness was a misnomer as I was feeling nausea all the time for more than 6 weeks, well into the middle of the second trimester. Due to my supposedly advanced maternal age, OB did a whole bunch of tests, including DNA test etc. Every single result on every test came back normal. And we go in for ultrasound every couple weeks. He was active on the ultrasound. In the last trimester, he moves a lot in my belly, seems to be reminding me that he is there, I need to pay attention to him. This is always entertaining. A beautiful spring day in quarantine

Date: 2020-05-14, Sunny，阳光明媚 Roxbury, CT 今天Roan七点起床。他和每天一样，早晨醒来后高兴地叫妈妈，各种强调，各种组合地叫个不停。我在睡眼惺忪里答应。昨天晚上我把他哄睡着，就自己也顺势睡着了，大概九点就睡了，所以早上七点起来，心情也很好。 这些日子Roan的语言水平有很大提高，会说组合词了：妈妈水杯，爸爸车，爷爷车，妈妈鞋。早晨起来爸爸拿着奶奶常用的杯子喝咖啡，Roan直接指出奶奶水杯。 我们吃完早饭快九点钟；阿姨打算带他去院子里玩儿。Roan却一心想着带妈妈出去玩儿，给我拿来了鞋，衣服。我想要去上班儿， 所以托词跟他说没有袜子，他就转身跑到卧室行李箱里找，但是只有他的衣服才放在行李箱里，所以那里没有我的袜子，他不知道怎么办。我忍不住让他失望，自己找来袜子，在他的监督下穿戴整齐，被他小手紧紧拉着出门儿了。 路过邻居家，碰到大公鸡Miller的主人Billie和他家黑狗Kiely在门口取报纸。Billie告诉我们今天上午有人来给新建的车库注水泥，我们可以去看。然后Kiely把报纸叼在嘴里，跟着主人回家了。 我们又走了一段以后，Roan就要求抱抱，而且只能妈妈抱，阿姨抱都不肯。我抱起他了往回走，走过路边去看大公鸡的小路入口，Roan要求去看“咕咕咕”， 他认识各个方向通往“咕咕咕”的小道。一只大公鸡，三只母鸡，看到我们来，就咕咕咕地赶紧凑过来。我们给公鸡扔了一点儿谷子和草叶子。喂完鸡，回到家。Roan不愿意进屋，也不愿意妈妈进屋，正纠缠不下，爸爸出来解围，带Roan院子里玩儿了一会儿。我得以逃脱，到地下室开始上班儿。Bob把我的地下室办公桌称为“神经中心”（nerve center）。 我一般在地下办公室坐一天，中途上去吃一次午饭，上两次厕所，都要趁Roan不在屋里的时候，否则被抓到了就脱不开身了。他其实知道我在这里，有时候会开着电话会议，听到窗户被砸的棒棒响。不用转头就知道Roan在敲我的窗户。一天中时不时都会听到阿姨跟他解释不能到地下室来，妈妈在上班儿。他一般是抗议一下作罢，但是如果我到了六七点还没下班儿，他就经常会往通往地下室的楼梯上扔东西了，屡教不改。。。
